· The Spalding County Pickleball Association (SCPA) was established at Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park in 2016 as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of pickleball.

· Each year, SCPA hosts between 3-5 pickleball tournaments, providing exciting opportunities for players to compete and showcase their skills.

· With over 325 active members from Spalding and neighboring counties, SCPA's membership is rapidly growing. To engage new players, SCPA offers a Saturday morning beginner clinic for adults and afternoon/evening clinics for middle school and high school students. Additionally, the Wyomia Tyus Pickleball facility is frequented daily by numerous visitors who enjoy the sport.

· The Wyomia Tyus Pickleball facility features 18 lighted courts, including 4 covered courts, along with amenities such as restrooms, a concession stand, and shaded viewing bleachers for the comfort of players and spectators alike.

· For more information, the SCPA website, spaldingpickleball.com, is a valuable resource that promotes online membership and encourages participation in events like round robins and ladder/league play. The site also highlights community sponsorship opportunities, showcasing current sponsors and the benefits of sponsorship for businesses.

· The primary goal of the SCPA is to enhance the growth of pickleball among individuals of all ages and backgrounds in Griffin, Spalding County, and the greater southern metro Atlanta area by sharing the many health benefits of pickleball. These benefits include improved balance, enhanced agility, better mental health, and increased social interaction. Notably, pickleball has been the fastest-growing sport in the United States for the past five years.

· SCPA also provides a free WhatsApp membership for all interested participants (Pickleball Peeps), enabling members to communicate about playing times, receive weather updates, and stay informed about activities and needs within the pickleball community.
